August Kidding Season!

 We are just a couple weeks away from the first kidding of Summer 2026!

Fiddle will be first to kid, due August 4; followed by Faith and Onyx due August 9th and 10th.

I am so excited to see what we get out of Fiddle and what her milk production is like.  She is a beautiful, deep bodied doe and is carrying her pregnancy well.  

Faith, my daughter's doe, is looking quite large, so we are expecting 2-4 kids, depending on the size and gender of the kids!

Onyx looks to only be carrying one kid.  I am hoping for a doeling, but we just never know!

Be sure to check out our "Kiddings" page to see the kids as they come along.  I post those photos as soon as possible.  The "Bucklings" and "Doelings" pages will have kids for sale as they come available.

All kids will be with their dams during the day time until their weaning date.  Kids will be separated at night beginning their 2nd week of life for morning milkings until weaned.  Bucklings are weaned at 8 weeks, doelings at 12 weeks (unless we are keeping a doeling).

We said goodbye to Dynamite and her buckling, now wether, Edison, today.  

She is a sweet doe and will be missed around here, especially since her milk production just increased dramatically!  

However, she is going to a good little farm down in Oklahoma that will love her and take good care of her.

After giving us a first round of only bucklings, we decided to part with Akatsuki.  He's gone to the butcher.

April 23, 2026, we said goodbye to Cricket and her buckling, Flower.  It was hard to see her go, but it didn't really hit me until after the new owners drove away and chores had been done.

Once I came inside and began cooking supper, I realized what I had done.  

Cricket was such a joy.  The first doeling out of my beloved Cookie-girl.  Cricket's battle with coccidiosis almost took her from us, but she is a fighter, and she won the battle and came out stronger for it.

She had a hard delivery with Flower--he was a big buckling!  But, she made it through that and recovered nicely.

Once I realized I had sold this most beloved doeling, I broke down in tears.  It didn't last long, and when my daughter (not Sofia) got home from work and was able to let me cry out all my tears with a big hug, I was able to think logically.

Unfortunately, I can't keep all the kids.  Of course, we would not want to keep all the bucklings, though we could just wether them.  Farming isn't just about breeding, milking and processing, but there needs to be some income to fund the whole venture.

So, Cricket was a good sell.  The farm is local, and the new owner sent me an update the next day showing that Cricket and Flower were acclimating to his herd quite well.
